This item is not a kit but an accessory for a model in 1:48 scale. The SPACE line from the Czech manufacturer Eduard of Obrnice near Most is built on three-dimensional decals: the printing carried on a layered support gives the finished part both color and relief at once. On a model this shows above all on the instrument panel and the side consoles, which stop looking like smooth plastic surfaces.
How they differ from ordinary decals
The elements of the SPACE line are not soaked whole in water and they have no adhesive layer of their own. With a damp sponge and a drop of detergent you moisten only the carrier paper, lift the element off it with tweezers and fix it to the part with dispersion, that is white, glue. The manufacturer does not recommend super glue, and a decal softener would attack the printed layer, so it is not used. Even so it is the easiest route to a detailed interior for anyone who does not get on with bending and gluing photo-etched pieces.
The Messerschmitt Bf-109G-6 is one of the most widespread production versions of the German single-seat fighter of the Second World War. It was powered by a Daimler-Benz DB 605 inverted V12 and can be told from the earlier versions by, among other things, the fairings over the guns on the forward fuselage. The cockpit is cramped and clearly visible on a model with the canopy hinged open, so interior detail is worth the effort.
Degrease the surfaces before applying the elements and let them dry. Moisten the carrier paper, take the element by the edge with tweezers and set it exactly right the first time into a drop of white glue. Finish the interior before you glue the fuselage together. Weather with dry techniques rather than wet ones; solvent effects and a decal softener can attack the printing. If you want your work to show, leave the cockpit canopy open.
