A sheet of water-slide decals in 1:48 scale with the markings of the machines flown by German fighter aces on the early versions of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G. Personal markings, that is tactical numbers, unit emblems and symbols of success, turn a run-of-the-mill kit into a particular machine with a story of its own.
The G version, nicknamed Gustav, was the most numerous development series of the Bf 109. The early Gustavs with the DB 605 engine entered service in 1942 and fought on the Eastern Front, in the Mediterranean and in the defense of the Reich. It was on them that a number of German fighter pilots reached high scores; alongside the standard camouflage, the machines of the aces carried personal elements, the arrows and chevrons of commanders, group emblems and victory markings on the rudder. Treat the theme factually: these are historical facts of the air war, not a celebration.
Apply the decals on a gloss base; transfer the small tactical markings with the tip of a pair of tweezers and align them precisely according to the drawing before they dry. On the edges of the rudder and the covers a decal softening solution helps. Once dry, coat the model with a matte varnish, which evens the surface out; on machines from the front a fine reduction of the sheen and light weathering is also to be expected.
The decal sheet is a stand-alone accessory; the kit is not included in the package.
