A photo-etched cargo floor for a model of the Mi-17 helicopter in 1:48 scale. The metal sheet replaces the plastic part and gives the floor a finer surface.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mi-17 is a twin-engine transport helicopter of Soviet design with a roomy cargo cabin, side doors and clamshell doors at the rear of the fuselage. It serves for carrying cargo as well as people and is used in many countries, in military as well as civil operation. The cargo space is well visible on a model as soon as you leave the doors open, and the floor is its largest continuous surface.
This is a photo-etched cargo floor in 1:48 scale. Metal sheet holds its shape even in a thickness that cannot be achieved in injection-molded plastic, so the surface of the floor comes out finer than on the plastic part from the kit. The exact extent of the parts, their placement and any work on the plastic needed before fitting are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
Fit the floor before you close the fuselage; later you cannot reach into the cabin. Separate the part with a fresh blade on a hard surface and sand the remains of the tabs off so that the sheet seats over its whole area without buckling. Bond with super glue applied drop by drop with a pin; cement for polystyrene will not join metal. Degrease the sheet before painting and lay down a base coat, or the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. The floor is a place where it pays to bring out use: a dark wash into the recesses and fine sanding of the surfaces that are walked on.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
