A masking set in 1:48 scale for a model of the Mi-17 helicopter. The designation TFace means that the items cover the outer and the inner face of the glazing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mi-17 is a twin-engine transport helicopter that follows on from the older and very widespread Mi-8 line. It carries a five-blade main rotor, two engines seated above the fuselage, and it stands on wheeled landing gear. For a modeler the extensive glazing is the key thing: the pilots' cabin has several separate panes, including the lower windows under the crew's feet, and there are further windows in the sides of the fuselage. It is this number of glazed surfaces that makes hand masking a long job and decides how clean a finished model looks.
Pre-cut masking items in 1:48 scale. The TFace designation in the name of the range means the form for both faces of the glazing, that is items for the outer and for the inner surface. That comes in useful where the inside of the cabin is visible and where a painted inner surface of a transparent part would give away that the framing is only painted on from outside. Which kit the set is cut for and what exactly it covers are given in the manufacturer's instructions, so check that it matches your model beforehand.
Stick the masks on before spraying, onto a clean and degreased transparent part. Lift them with the tip of a blade or with tweezers and press the edges down firmly, or the paint will run under them. Fit the inner items before you seat the transparent part in the fuselage. Apply the paint in several thin coats, because a heavy coat creates a ridge at the edge of a mask that stays visible after it is peeled off. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has dried; after standing longer it holds more firmly and there is a risk that it tears the coat off too.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
