MASTER 1:48 MiG-15 and MiG-15bis barrel set, antenna base and pitot tube is a turned metal accessory for a kit. It is not an aircraft model.

A turned metal detail set in 1:48 scale by the Polish brand MASTER. The accessory replaces three groups of small parts on a model of the MiG-15 jet fighter and its more powerful version, the MiG-15bis: the barrels of the main armament, the antenna base and the forward air data probe. It is not a kit but a set of replacement parts that are worked into a finished plastic model.
The MiG-15 carried its armament grouped in the nose below the cockpit, a combination of one heavier 37 mm cannon and a pair of 23 mm cannons. It is precisely the muzzles of these barrels that are a problem on a plastic model: blind, solid and usually thick-walled. A turned metal barrel has a real bore, so it does not have to be laboriously drilled and there is no risk of the bit wandering off the axis. The same goes for the pitot tube, which injected plastic will never make thin and straight enough, and for the small antenna base, which in plastic usually blurs into an indistinct shape.
Cut the plastic parts off and sand the surface clean. Drill the holes with a hand drill in small steps and keep checking whether the metal part seats without play. Offer the barrels up dry and check them from the front so that the muzzles point the same way and are concentric with the fuselage. Fix them with cyanoacrylate or epoxy. Degrease the metal with alcohol before painting and use a primer for metal. On metal barrels, oxidizing or blackening looks better than covering paint, as it leaves the material its own sheen. Fit the probe and the antenna only once the varnish and the weathering are finished.
The set is supplied unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
