The Mitsubishi Ki-46 Shitei III single-sided Art Scale mask 1:48 is a set of precisely pre-cut self-adhesive masks of kabuki tape from the Czech manufacturer Art Scale. It contains neither a model nor paint; it serves for quick and clean masking of the cockpit glazing and usually the wheels as well while spraying. The single-sided version masks the outer side of the glazing.

The real subject

The Mitsubishi Ki-46, nicknamed Dinah by the Allies, was a Japanese twin-engine reconnaissance aircraft of the Second World War, valued for its aerodynamically clean lines, its speed and its range. The Shitei III version had a reworked nose with smooth glazing. The long glazed cockpit with its many frames is one of the most laborious areas of the build, and this set speeds it up markedly.

Use

• Peel the individual numbered masks off and transfer them onto clean, degreased glazing.
• The mask follows the framing precisely, so it is enough to spray over it in the color of the cockpit frames.
• The single-sided version covers the outer surfaces; we recommend painting the cockpit interior before the canopy is closed.
• We recommend a sharp modeling knife, tweezers and laying the paint on in thin coats.
