The masking set 1:48 Morane-Saulnier MS.406C1 from Eduard makes spraying the cabin frames of the French fighter easier.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a masking accessory used while painting a model, not the model itself. The cut shapes follow the frames of the sliding canopy and of the glazing behind the pilot. The letter C in the designation of the real subject refers to the French designation of a single-seat fighter.
In May 1940 the MS.406 was the most numerous fighter type of the French Air Force. It was powered by a V12 Hispano-Suiza engine and it carried a cannon of 20 mm caliber on the propeller axis, complemented by machine guns in the wing. A characteristic element was the retractable radiator under the fuselage, which the pilot lowered according to the mode of flight. The machines fought over France and others served in Finnish colors as well.
French camouflage is three-color with soft transitions, so masking the frames and spraying the blotches get in each other's way. Cover the glazing therefore before you set about the camouflage, and leave it covered until you have the oil work on the panels done as well. Lighten the shades sparingly; in 1:48 an exaggerated contrast looks unnatural. Go over the frames with a magnifier at the end, as a small flaw always shows up in a photograph of a model.
