1:48 Nakajima Ki-27 Nate National Insignia paint masks is a set of paint masks for spraying the national insignia onto models of the Ki-27 aircraft in 1:48 scale. The name itself says that these are masks for spraying, not decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
A Dead Design set in 1:48 scale. It is an accessory to a model, not a kit. The masks are laid on a finished paint job, sprayed over and taken off once the paint has set. The exact extent of the package is not stated here.
An aircraft carries the national marking in several places, and those places have to agree with one another in size. When you paint the marking by hand, each one turns out slightly different, and the mismatch between the left and the right wing is plain even to a layman. A pre-cut set settles that problem by giving the same position the same mask. The dimensions stay consistent without your measuring anything.
A decal keeps the dimensions too, but pays for it with a film. The carrier lies above the paint, gives itself away on matte camouflage by a different sheen and silvers when adhesion is poor. A sprayed marking is the same paint as the rest of the finish, so it has neither a different texture nor a different sheen. It also does not yellow or crack, which commonly happens to older decals from boxes.
Let the camouflage cure before masking, ideally overnight. Lay the mask on and push the air out from the middle to the edge. Spray the red paint onto a thin light base, otherwise it will darken over green camouflage. Keep the coats thin and take the mask off before the paint has fully hardened.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
