An add-on set of metal parts for the armament and gunsight of the North American P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The North American P-51D Mustang was an American single-seat fighter of the Second World War and the most widely built version of the whole family. Its hallmark is the teardrop canopy over a cut-down rear fuselage, which opened up the pilot's view to the rear. Its long range let the Mustang escort bomber formations all the way to the target and take on enemy fighters there. The armament was housed in the wings and consisted of six large-caliber machine guns; aiming was done with a gunsight in the cockpit.
This is an add-on set of metal parts for the armament and the gunsight. Metal allows thinner walls and cleaner muzzles than can be achieved on a kit part, and a thin metal part is also far less likely to bend or break. The number of parts in the package and the kit the set is designed for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the original kit part away with a sharp blade and level the seating surface so that the new part sits in line. Metal does not bond with polystyrene cement, so use super glue and degrease both the part and its seat beforehand. Keep the surface degreased before painting and reach for a primer suitable for metal, otherwise the coat will rub off. Fit thin parts at the very end of the build, when you no longer handle the model much.
The set suits modelers who want cleanly finished muzzles on the finished model and a cockpit taken to the last detail. The aircraft kit, paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
