A plastic kit of the American North American P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale - the definitive version with the bubble canopy.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale captures the American single-seat North American P-51D Mustang fighter. The P-51D was the most widespread and definitive version of the Mustang; its hallmarks are the lowered fuselage spine and the bubble canopy, which gave the pilot all-round vision. The model represents the American (USAAF) form of this legendary long-range fighter.
The P-51D was powered by the license-built Packard V-1650 engine (derived from the Rolls-Royce Merlin), thanks to which the Mustang became the first fighter able to escort bombers all the way to targets deep inside Germany and return. The introduction of the bubble canopy removed the blind spot behind the pilot and markedly improved awareness in combat. The standard armament consisted of six large-caliber machine guns in the wings. Deliveries to USAAF combat units began in 1944 and the Mustang played a key role in escorting strategic raids over Europe as well as in the Pacific.
This is an injection-molded plastic kit - use a thin modeling cement for plastic on the joints. Glue the clear bubble canopy with a cement for canopies and mask it when spraying. Finish the cockpit and the landing gear before closing the fuselage. Apply a primer before airbrushing; for the faithful glossy metal look of American aircraft, polished metal shades, a gloss varnish under the decals and fine washing of the panel lines all work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
