The set of glazing masks OV-10A Bronco Marines in 1:48 scale from Dead Design. The precisely cut parts cover the glazing of the cabin, so the frames can be sprayed without cutting tape by hand. Intended for the ICM kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
It is a masking set, not a kit. The parts are stuck onto the clear molding of the cabin in such a way that only the frames that are to get the color of the airframe stay uncovered. The rest of the glazing stays protected under the mask and once the spraying is done the mask is taken off. The target kit is ICM.
The OV-10 Bronco is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft for reconnaissance, forward air control and light attack. The OV-10A version served with the US Marine Corps and the US Air Force alike. A typical feature is the twin-boom tail structure and the exceptionally glazed tandem cabin, which gives the crew a view practically in all directions. It is precisely the extent of the glazing that makes masking the cabin one of the most laborious parts of a build on this type.
A mask holds only on what you stick it to. Before sticking it on, therefore, wash the clear part in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap, rinse it and let it dry freely. Wiping it with a cloth does not pay off, because it leaves fibers and fine scratches behind. After washing, touch the part only by the edges or in gloves, because a fingerprint is a greasy film and under it the edge of a mask will not stick and the paint will run under. The Bronco has glazing divided into many small panes, so even a tiny bit of dirt shows at once on several edges at the same time. Lay the masks down with tweezers and after sticking each one on go over every edge with a toothpick or the blunt side of a scalpel, so that it seats along its whole length.
