The designation EXPERT is the grade of the set, by which the maker distinguishes the extended variant from the basic BASIC range. The set is not a kit and not a model part; it serves for masking areas before spraying.

The real subject

The Bronco was designed as a slow-flying machine for reconnaissance, forward air control and light attack, that is for work at low altitude and low speed. The OV-10D version is adapted for night observation and carries the matching sensor equipment in the nose. The cockpit glazing has a large number of flat and angled panels, so on a model the glazing frames are the most demanding part of the painting, especially in 1:48 scale, where the bars are only a few tenths of a millimeter wide.

How to use the masks

Apply the masks to finished, clean and degreased glazing, ideally before gluing the part into the fuselage. Transfer the released piece with tweezers, seat it against the frame and press the edges down thoroughly so that paint does not creep under them. Apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats and move to the final shade only after a first covering coat in the interior color. Lift the mask off as soon as the paint has flashed off. On glazing it helps a great deal to treat it beforehand with clear varnish, which prevents a sharp matte edge.
