A set of photo-etched parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the American P-40E fighter. The thin metal replaces the places where a plastic part is too thick.
Responsibility details are not available.
The P-40E is one of the versions of the American single-seat fighter that was used on a large scale in the first years of the Second World War. You recognize it by the deep radiator under the nose, which gives the whole machine its characteristic profile, and by its armament of six 12.7 mm machine guns housed in the wing. It flew with the US Army and with Allied air forces on most fronts, and its nose often became a canvas for striking artwork.
The set contains parts etched from thin metal sheet. Etching is done chemically, so a part can have a thickness that matches the scale in a way injection-molded plastic cannot. It comes into its own wherever the real aircraft has a thin wall, strap, grille or loop. The range of parts and their placement on the model are given in the instructions supplied by the manufacturer.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by twisting, and level the remains of the tab with a fine file. Make the bends in the scored line over a straight edge or in a bending tool, always in one movement. You join the metal with super glue, and with epoxy on larger surfaces; cement for polystyrene does not hold on it. Before painting, wash the sheet, degrease it and apply a primer. Small parts are more convenient to paint while still on the fret.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
