The 1:48 P-40E TFace set from the Czech maker Eduard is an aid for covering the clear areas of the Curtiss P-40E fighter while spraying. The pre-cut shapes follow the outlines of the cockpit canopy, so there is no lengthy cutting of tape directly on the model and the framing comes out the same width along its whole length.
The letters TFace in the name mean that the shapes are prepared for both sides of the glazing, that is outside and inside. Thanks to that the canopy frames can be painted in the interior shade from the inside as well, which is clearly visible on large sliding canopies. A single-sided version for the same type is sold as a separate item.
Before masking, wash the glazing in lukewarm water and let it dry completely so that the shapes adhere reliably. Press the edges down with a toothpick or a wooden stick so that no paint creeps under them. Spray in thin coats and lift the masks off soon after the paint has dried, while the edge of the coat is still brittle. Wipe off any glue residue with a cotton swab moistened with alcohol. Store the unused shapes flat and out of direct sunlight.
