A set of photo-etched metal parts for the P-40N model in 1:48 scale. Features that are made of thin sheet on the real machine necessarily come out thicker in injection-molded plastic; etched metal brings them back to a thickness that matches the scale and holds a sharp edge on them. The manufacturer's instructions list which parts the set holds and where they belong on the model.
The P-40N is the last production version of the American P-40 fighter. It came about by lightening the earlier machines, and some of them received a cut-down rear fuselage behind the cockpit with more glazing, so that the pilot could see better to the rear. The deep radiator scoop under the nose remains the characteristic mark of the whole family, and it is what identifies a P-40 at first glance.
Leave the parts in the fret until the moment you fit them; a piece cut out loose is easily lost. Separate them with a sharp blade against a hard surface and level the remnant of the tab with a fine file. Shape a part that should be curved by wrapping it around a drill shank or a round handle. Use super glue on metal, because polystyrene cement will not hold on it, and transfer it a drop at a time. Wash the metal surface before painting, degrease it with alcohol and lay down a thin primer coat.
The package holds photo-etched parts only. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
