This item is not a kit and not a finished model. It is a mask set in 1:48 scale from the Czech maker Eduard, meant for covering the areas that should stay clean after spraying. Most often that means the cockpit glazing, thanks to which the frames come out crisp and without laborious brush work. The real subject is the P-47D-30 Thunderbolt fighter. The exact extent of the set and the number of individual pieces are given on its box.
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was among the heaviest single-engine fighters of the Second World War and modelers know it by the nickname Jug. It was powered by an R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine with a turbocharger housed in the rear fuselage, which gave the aircraft excellent performance at high altitude. The D-30 blocks already had a bubble canopy with all-round vision and belonged to the late production series, which in 1944 and 1945 were used above all as fighter-bombers over western Europe. A rugged structure and heavy firepower made the Thunderbolt a machine that could take a hit and still make it back to base.
