The set of glazing masks Phantom FG.1 and FGR.2 1:48 for the inner and the outer side from Dead Design. Intended for models where an open cabin is reckoned with.
Responsibility details are not available.
The double-sided version of the masking set for the British Phantom. Besides the parts for the outer side of the glazing it also contains parts for the inner outline of the frame, so the cabin can be sprayed from both sides.
On the ramp and in photographs the Phantom is mostly shown with the canopies hinged up, because you can then see into both cockpits and the model acts more alive. As soon as you hinge the canopy up, however, the viewer looks straight at its inner side. The frame, which from the outside looks flawless, is only transparent plastic from underneath and that brings the whole impression down. It is precisely this case that the double-sided set deals with. The difference against the basic version is substantive, not cosmetic: the basic set covers only the outside, while this one adds shaped parts for the inner side. With a two-seat cabin it moreover proves worthwhile twice over, because here there are two canopies to open.
The FG.1 and FGR.2 are the British versions of the two-seat Phantom II. They served with naval aviation and with the Royal Air Force alike, and they are told apart from the American machines by their Rolls-Royce Spey engines and the modifications of the fuselage connected with them. The crew consisted of a pilot and a systems operator, so both cabins have an appointed interior, which comes into view once the canopies are opened.
