Masks for painting a model of the single-seat F-16C fighter in service with the Polish Air Force, in 1:48 scale. The rendition is listed under the Raven designation and the supplier offers the set as an updated release of an earlier item.
The F-16 is a single-seat single-engine fighter whose cockpit, with a bubble canopy and no forward frame, gives the pilot a view practically all the way around. For a modeler that means one large area of glazing on which any inaccuracy in the width of a frame is visible at first glance, and that is why masks pay off more on this type than on aircraft with a divided cockpit. The Polish Air Force operates the F-16 in both single-seat and two-seat form.
A die-cut mask holds the same line width along its whole length and follows the curve of the canopy, which a line drawn freehand cannot manage. A sprayed area also has no edge of carrier film and no step, so after flattening it merges with its surroundings.
Work from the light shade to the dark one and stick a mask down only onto a perfectly dried coat. Press the edges with a toothpick so that the paint does not run under them. Spray in several thin coats perpendicular to the edge of the mask, not from the side. Remove the mask while the paint is freshly dried, by pulling it back over itself at a sharp angle. The scope of the set and the layout of the individual pieces are given in the instructions enclosed with the package.
The package contains masks only. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
