The set holds an unpainted cast figure of a clergyman and coffins, that is, elements for a scene of mourning in 1:48 scale. The figure and the accessories are supplied as separate castings and serve as an accessory to a scene already built or as a view of its own on a small vignette. 1:48 scale means that an adult figure is roughly four centimeters, so on the face and the hands every stroke of the brush already tells.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry perfectly - the remains of the mold release agent are the main reason paint later cracks or peels. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutting disc, not with nippers, so that the thin places do not break. Sand the parting lines down with fine abrasive paper and glue with super glue, which benefits from a slight roughening of the surface to be bonded. While sanding, protect your breathing and work wet where you can.
A tried and tested order is a primer, the skin, the textiles, the accessories and finally the highlighting. On a figure in this scale apply a thin primer from a spray can or an airbrush, so that the engraved folds do not disappear. Build the skin up from a middle color, put the shadows in with a glazed dark shade into the hollows and suggest the highlights by drybrushing on the nose, the cheekbones and the backs of the hands. With dark robes a wash helps against the surfaces merging, along with a very discreet lighter touch on the standing edges. Paint the coffins separately while they are still loose - wood is well built up from a middle brown with a dark wash and fine drybrushing along the edges, and the fittings are worth muting so that they do not shout in the overall view. Take the view sparingly; the whole color scheme is to be muted.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
