This item is not a kit but an accessory for a model. It is a set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the Lockheed PV-1 Ventura in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The masks are stuck onto the clear parts and outline the frames of the glazing, so that after spraying there is a sharp transition between the frame and the transparent area.
Compared with a single-seat fighter the PV-1 has considerably more glazed area: the pilots' cockpit, the dorsal gun turret and the side windows of the fuselage. Cutting every frame out of masking tape by hand takes hours, and one crooked cut is enough for the frame to be visibly out of true on the finished model. Ready-made masks cut that work down to sticking them on, and the result is repeatable.
The Lockheed PV-1 Ventura was a twin-engine patrol and bomber aircraft derived from the Lodestar airliner. It flew mainly over the sea, where it carried out maritime patrol and anti-submarine duties. Its characteristic features are the radial engines in massive nacelles and the twin vertical tails.
The package contains the masks only. The model, paints and glue are not part of it.
