Photo-etched parts for building a model of the American Lockheed PV-1 patrol and bomber aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lockheed PV-1 is an American twin-engine patrol and bomber aircraft of the Second World War period. It grew out of a civil airliner of the same make, which gave it a roomy fuselage, twin vertical tail surfaces and a decent fuel load. It was powered by a pair of radial engines. It served chiefly over the sea, where it patrolled, hunted submarines and attacked shipping targets, and it also flew with Allied air forces.
Photo-etched parts for a PV-1 model in 1:48 scale. Photo-etched parts are made by etching a shape out of thin metal sheet, so they have a true thickness that cannot be achieved in plastic. Which parts of the model the set covers and which kit it is meant for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and never break them out with your fingers. Make the bends over the edge of a steel ruler or in a photo-etch bender, so that they stay sharp and straight. They are bonded with super glue applied in a tiny amount; on larger areas a glue that sets more slowly proves itself. Wash and degrease the metal before painting, or the paint will hold badly on it.
The set is for modelers who want to give a model details beyond the kit and do not mind fine work with tweezers. It pays to plan the order of work in advance and to glue in an order that leaves the places with the worst access for last. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
