The Eduard 1:48 PV-1 exterior photo-etched set is a metal accessory for a plastic kit of the patrol aircraft in 1:48 scale, aimed at the external details of the airframe. It is not a model of an aircraft but a set of parts for one.

This is a photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard for a plastic model of the Lockheed PV-1 Ventura aircraft in 1:48 scale. The designation exterior in the name says that the set concerns the outside of the airframe, not the interior. It is outside that a model has the features injection-molded plastic will never make thin enough: covers, mesh, plates, stiffeners and similar details are in reality made of sheet a fraction of a millimeter thick, and photo-etched metal manages them in a matching thickness.
The Lockheed PV-1 Ventura was an American twin-engine patrol and bomber aircraft, in design derived from a civil Lockheed twin. It was powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engines. It was used chiefly for patrol and anti-submarine flights and for attacks on ground and naval targets.
External parts are fitted at a later stage of the build, after the seams have been sanded and often only after the base color has been sprayed, so that they do not break off during sanding. Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp scalpel or photo-etch shears on a hard surface and make the bends over a straight edge, best in a bending tool. They are bonded with super glue; on large areas a glue with a longer setting time helps, so that there is time to seat the part. Degrease the metal before painting and lay on a primer, or the paint will not hold on the smooth surface and will be torn off during masking.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a stand-alone model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
