This photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard brings fine metal parts, most often in brass, for raising the fidelity of a model of the American carrier-based North American RA-5C Vigilante reconnaissance aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but a detail accessory for advanced modelers. The photo-etched parts replace or complete items of the plastic kit and add detail that cannot be molded into injected plastic, for example instrument panels, seat belts and small items of interior and exterior.
The North American RA-5C Vigilante was a large American twin-engine carrier-based navy aircraft. It originated as a heavy supersonic strike aircraft and was later rebuilt into a high-performance reconnaissance machine with extensive sensor equipment. Thanks to its high speed and size it ranked among the most striking aircraft ever to operate from the deck of a carrier.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and make the bends on a photo-etch bender or over a metal ruler. Bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); plastic cement has no effect. Working with small parts calls for patience and tweezers.
The set is supplied as photo-etched parts, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
