A limited edition of injection-molded plastic kits of the American P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale from Eduard. As a Dual Combo, the box contains parts for building two Mustang models and rich equipment in the form of photo-etched parts, masking film and an extensive decal sheet with many marking options. The edition is devoted to the fighter units of the Fifteenth Air Force in Italy, among them the famous 332nd Fighter Group, the Red Tails, with its Tuskegee airmen.
The North American P-51D Mustang was an American single-seat fighter of the Second World War which, thanks to its long range, escorted bombers deep over enemy territory. You can recognize it by its teardrop canopy, its laminar-flow wing and the characteristic radiator under the fuselage. Red Tails was the nickname of the pilots of the 332nd Fighter Group, made up mostly of African American airmen trained at Tuskegee, after the strikingly red-painted tail surfaces of their Mustangs.
Use liquid cement for plastic and glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Finish and paint both cockpits before you close the fuselages; colored photo-etched parts raise the detail considerably here. Apply a primer before painting and put the colors on with an airbrush. Most of the aircraft flew in natural metal, where metallizer paints stand out on a smooth base; the bold color markings of the units are easier to create with the masks and decals enclosed.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
