In subject it covers the first part of the hundred-year history of British No. 4 Squadron, that is the period from its assignment to the forerunner of today's Royal Air Force up to the later stages of its service. The parts of the series complement one another and the designation first part serves to tell them apart. The product is an accessory for a finished model, not a kit.
No. 4 Squadron came into being while the British military flying service was still a corps subordinate to the army, and it stayed in service across the whole of the following century. In that time it went through a series of duties and generations of equipment. Themed sheets of this kind therefore usually cover several different types of aircraft and make it possible to build a series of models linked by one unit.
British airframes tend to be broken up around the fuselage markings, with panel seams, rivets and changes of shape. It is exactly here that a pair of products comes in useful: a decal fixer solution laid on the surface before the decal, and a softener applied to the film once it is settled. The softener softens the film, which is drawn into the engraving, and the decal looks as if it had been painted on. Do not touch the film while it is working, as even a slight shift will tear it at that moment. Once it is completely dry, clear-coat the model.
