A wall of the rustic type 1:48 is a cast diorama accessory from the Czech maker Hauler. It is not a model kit but a finished structural element that will give a diorama a background and a clear boundary.
Responsibility details are not available.
The accessory represents a section of wall in a rustic, irregular form in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of a vehicle or an aircraft - it is a scenery element that gives a diorama depth, separates the foreground from the background and serves as a natural support of the composition. It is precisely a wall that tends to be what turns a little heap of models on a board into a scene with action.
The commonest mistake is merely to lay the wall on finished terrain - it then looks as though it were standing on the board on a visit. Mark its outline out before the terrain compound is applied, sink the lower edge into the ground and mask the transition with putty, sand and crushed pigment. At the foot it pays to suggest fallen soil, small rubble and a tuft of grass. If the wall divides a scene, bear in mind that there should be room behind it at least for a hint of further space - otherwise it works as a background with no continuation.
First wash the casting in water with detergent, cut the casting remains off and apply a primer, ideally in a gray shade, which will support the following coats well. Painting masonry works well from the top down: the base tone with an airbrush, then a dark wash into the joints to bring the structure out, and finally drybrushing in a lighter shade along the edges. Do not use a single shade - irregularity is the main thing with a rustic wall, so vary a few stones or sections of plaster slightly. From below add a lighter deposit of dust, and in the places where water would run, darker vertical traces. Suggest moss and mold with a very thinned green applied with a sponge, or the result looks artificial. Finally unify the surface with a matte varnish.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, terrain compounds and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
