The set

Pre-cut masking templates in kabuki tape for models in 1:48 scale. Kabuki tape is thin, holds its shape well, can be pressed onto a slightly curved surface and leaves no adhesive residue when peeled off. The templates are cut to measure, so the cutting and sticking of strips that otherwise eats most of the time on glazing falls away. The designation EXPERT distinguishes the coverage of the set within the range, and a list of the parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions.

The real subjects

The Lockheed S-3 Viking is a carrier aircraft of the US Navy with a high-set wing and a pair of engines in nacelles beneath it, intended for patrol duty over the sea. The ES-3A Shadow derives from it and was modified for reconnaissance tasks.

How to use the masks

Stick the masks onto a clean, degreased surface before spraying. Transfer them with tweezers, lay them on and press the edges down with a toothpick or a soft stick, so that paint cannot creep under them. Then apply the paint in thin coats, as a heavy layer readily tears away along with the edge of the mask and leaves a ragged line behind. Take the mask off soon after the paint has dried, pulling at a sharp angle to the surface.
