A set of small S-shaped hooks for models of military vehicles in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory that is fitted to a model built from plastic. Hooks of this type were used on the real equipment for hanging tow ropes, chains and other gear on the body and the superstructures.
In a kit a molded hook tends to be part of the surface of the body, so it is coarser than it should be at scale and its opening is often filled in. A separate part is thinner and has a properly open shape, so a cable or a chain can really be hooked onto it. The difference shows above all on dioramas and on models displayed at eye level, where the detail of the body is judged at close range.
First cut the molded shape off the body with a scalpel and sand the area smooth. Separate the new part from the casting block, clean it up and set it on the degreased spot; if the shape seats on an edge, it helps to pre-drill a hole with a micro drill. Bond it with cyanoacrylate glue applied in the smallest amount. Paint it separately and fit it once it is dry so that the hook does not get swamped with paint. A metallic cast is easy to suggest with a dark base, a fine dry brush and a light wash.
The set is an accessory for a model, not a standalone kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
