Masking set 1:48 Grumman S-2E and S-2G Tracker Expert is a set of self-adhesive kabuki paper masks for masking the glazed areas and other places on a model of a carrier-based antisubmarine aircraft. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model you obtain separately.

This set from the Czech manufacturer New Ware contains machine-cut self-adhesive masks of kabuki paper with which you cover the transparent areas of a model and other parts that are to stay free of paint before spraying. Kabuki paper is thin, it adapts well to rounded shapes and after spraying it peels off without tearing and without adhesive residue on the clear part. The Expert designation says that this is the widest of the levels of coverage offered, that is the variant with the greatest number of masks.
Canopy frames painted with a brush almost always give away an uneven edge, and a decal imitation of the frames has a different sheen on a plastic model than the surrounding paint. A mask solves the problem differently: the frame gets real paint in the same layer and the same shade as the rest of the airframe, so the transition does not show. On the Tracker that matters a great deal, because the glazing of the cockpit is broken up into many panes and doing it by hand would be a long and thankless job.
First degrease the clear part and let it dry completely. Lift the masks off the backing sheet with pointed tweezers or the tip of a knife, place them dry and press them down with a soft stick, above all around the edge. Spray in several very thin coats so that the paint does not get under the edge of the mask. It pays to spray the interior color of the frames first and only then, once it has dried, the exterior color. Take the masks off while the paint has only just dried, not after several days. Keep the rest of the sheet with the unused parts, as the pieces come in handy when masking small details on later builds.
This is an accessory for a model, not the model itself. Paints, glue and the kit are not included in the package.
