A set of turned metal pitot tubes and angle of attack probes for a model of the SAAB JAS 39 Gripen in 1:48 scale from the MASTER brand. It deals with all the thin probes on the forward fuselage at once.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a metal accessory, not an aircraft model. The set contains turned pitot tubes and angle of attack probes for a model of the Swedish multirole SAAB JAS 39 Gripen in 1:48 scale.
An angle of attack probe is a small vane on the side of the forward fuselage and, together with the pitot tube, it forms a group of details that are the hardest of all to produce in injection-molded plastic. The probes are thin, they sit as a pair opposite each other and any asymmetry shows on a finished model at once. Turned metal holds the dimension and shape identically on both sides, so the model looks symmetrical even seen from the front.
First mark the exact position of both probes on the fuselage, ideally according to the instructions, and prick the points with a needle so that the drill does not slip. Drill by hand and work up gradually from a small diameter. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate and check at once that both probes point the same way and form the same angle with the fuselage. Degrease the metal and use a primer for metal; small parts paint well with a brush, because on such a small area an airbrush would only clog them needlessly. Fit the probes only after painting and decals.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The basic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
