A resin set of control surfaces from Aires. It replaces the moving surfaces of a plastic kit, that is the ailerons, the elevator and the rudder, with more accurate castings that render the covering finely, and it lets you deflect them for a livelier pose. It is an accessory for more experienced modelers, built into a base model of the SBD-5 Dauntless in 1:48 scale.
The Douglas SBD Dauntless was an American carrier dive bomber of the Second World War. In the SBD-5 version it received a stronger engine and was used above all by the Navy. It made its name as a bomb carrier with perforated dive flaps for a steep descent onto the target.
First wash the parts to remove any mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and clean up the mating surfaces. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and protect your airways while sanding resin. Lay down a primer before painting; choose how far to deflect the control surfaces to suit the scene and bring out the fine ribbing of the covering with shading.
This is a resin accessory for a kit, not an airplane model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
