A pre-cut self-adhesive Eduard masking set in 1:48 scale for the British Sea Harrier FRS.1, a carrier-based jet with vertical takeoff and landing. It is not a kit and it is not a model in its own right, but a set of precisely shaped masks made of thin yellow masking tape (kabuki). The masks cover the framing of the glazed canopy and make it easy to spray the glazing cleanly; depending on what the package holds, they also serve to cover the wheels. The parts are cut exactly to the shape of one particular kit, so there is no trimming of tape by hand.
The Sea Harrier FRS.1 was a British carrier-based jet fighter, reconnaissance and attack aircraft with vertical or short takeoff and vertical landing. It entered service with the Royal Navy in 1980 and, compared with the land-based Harrier, it had a raised cockpit with a bulged canopy for better visibility and the Blue Fox radar in a lengthened nose. It made its name in the Falklands War of 1982, when it was the only carrier fighter in the British task force.
Start by getting the grease off the glazing. Take the mask off the backing, lay it on the frame and press it down so that it clings without creases. Then spray the framing color with an airbrush in thin coats, so that paint cannot bleed under the edge of the mask. Once it is dry, peel the mask off carefully at a sharp angle.
The package contains masks only. The model, paints, glue and decals are not included, unless stated otherwise.
