Masks for the glazing of the Supermarine Seafire Mk.XV carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. They cover the canopy frames from outside and inside and the cut matches the kit by the brand Hobbycraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The naval branch of the famous fighter ran on Merlin engines for a long time. The fifteenth mark changed that: it combined the fuselage of the carrier Mk III with the wing and the Griffon powerplant taken over from the land-based Mk XII. The result was a machine with markedly higher performance near the ground, recognizable at first glance by the bulged fairings above the cylinder heads and by the larger fin, which had to balance the greater torque.
The machine reached service only in 1945 and did not manage to take part in the fighting in Europe. British naval aviation flew it for a long time afterwards, though, and further examples were taken over by the Canadians, the French and Burma. Later batches received a sting-type arrestor hook placed at the very end of the fuselage, because the original hook under the fuselage did not work reliably on landing with the Griffon.
A teardrop canopy without inner framing is easier to mask than the greenhouse of a bomber, but every wavy edge on it is conspicuous. The die-cut parts follow the arc of the windscreen as well as the dividing frames and are supplied for both sides of the glazing, so the frame stays visually solid from the cockpit too.
The kit of the aircraft is ordered separately.
