About product

Pre-painted RAF late STEEL belts 1:48 (Eduard)

Colored photo-etched seat belts in the STEEL version from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:48 scale, matching the harnesses of British machines of the later RAF period. This is not a model but an accessory for the cockpit of a matching plastic model. The parts are pre-painted, so they do not have to be painted.

What the set is for

A pilot's harness is clearly visible in a cockpit and a faithful rendering of it adds a great deal to the overall impression. Pre-painted photo-etched belts replace flat plastic representations, or belts missing altogether, with thin, realistic-looking straps complete with buckles and fittings. The STEEL designation refers to the metal form of the straps and buckles, as distinct from the fabric sets marked FABRIC. The form matches later Royal Air Force practice.

Usage tips

  • Pre-painted belts do not have to be painted; it is enough to set them in place
  • Bend the individual parts into the natural shape of a strap and its buckles
  • Fix them into the seat with a drop of super glue (cyanoacrylate)
  • Pick the small parts up with tweezers on a hard surface

Who the set is for

  • For modelers who want a realistic cockpit without laborious painting
  • For builders of later-period Second World War British aircraft
  • Suitable even for the moderately advanced, thanks to the pre-painted parts

The set is an accessory for a cockpit; on its own it does not make a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

No, these are photo-etched seat belts for a cockpit. They serve to sharpen up the interior of a plastic model; the belts alone do not make a model.

No, they are pre-painted. It is enough to separate them, shape them and fix them into the seat, ideally with a drop of super glue.

The late form matches the later period of the Royal Air Force; the early set matches early practice. Choose according to the era of your machine.
