A street lamp as an accessory for a diorama in 1:48 scale. It gives a scene a vertical line and hints at where the action takes place.
Responsibility details are not available.
A diorama lives and dies with whether the viewer can tell where the scene takes place. A street lamp is one of the few accessories that say that at first glance: it puts a scene into an inhabited setting, by a road or at the edge of a built-up area. At the same time it is the only tall vertical element in an otherwise low scene, so it gives a diorama scale and leads the viewer's eye upward and back to the main object.
A proven place is at the edge of the base, off the axis of the main model. A lamp stood in the middle of a scene will hide the main object and break the composition, whereas at the edge it frames it. Check that it really stands upright; a leaning post shows immediately and a viewer reads it as a mistake, not as an intention. Set the foot of the post into the surface and mask the transition with the material of the ground, so that the lamp does not look as if it had merely been stood on a board.
Wash and degrease the parts before painting and use a base color; without it the shade rubs off the post. Posts tend to be painted uniformly, so only the aging will bring the result to life: a lighter tinge on the sides exposed to the sun, darker streaking under the head, rust and deposits of dirt at the foot. Choose the method of gluing according to the material of the parts you find in the package.
A base, figures, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
