A turned metal accessory from the Polish company MASTER for models of the Su-17, Su-20 and Su-22 fighter-bombers in 1:48 scale. The set contains Pitot tubes with optional parts for all versions and 30 mm cannon barrels. It is not an aircraft kit but a replacement for the small plastic parts that give the model the greatest ratio of effect to effort spent.
The Su-17 and its export variants the Su-20 and Su-22 were single-engined fighter-bombers with a variable-geometry wing. The external appearance differed between the individual versions in, among other things, the design and position of the pitot probes on the nose, which is why the set offers optional parts. The 30 mm cannon were housed in the roots of the fixed part of the wing.
Pitot tubes are among the parts that break most often on a finished model - one careless move from the workbench to the display case is enough. A turned metal probe is incomparably tougher than a plastic one and at the same time has the correctly thin section that injection-molded plastic could not reach. Cut the plastic probe off, drill a hole in the nose exactly to the diameter of the pin and glue the part in with cyanoacrylate glue; check the axis by eye from the front until the glue sets. Glue the cannon barrels in only after the surroundings have been painted, so that the bore does not get flooded with paint. Degrease the metal before painting and use a primer for metal. Match the optional parts to the version you are building in advance and put the rest aside - there will be no second chance to choose.
This is an accessory for further refinement of the model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
