A double-sided masking set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the Su-27K carrier-based fighter in 1:48 scale. The designation TFace states the extent: the package holds masks for the outer and the inner side of the glazing. On a large single-piece canopy, which is often built raised, the inner side of the frames is clearly in view, and unpainted clear plastic there is distracting. This is an accessory to a kit, not a model.
The Su-27K is the carrier-based form of the heavy Su-27 fighter, intended for operating from an aircraft carrier. It differs from the land-based version in its folding wing sections, strengthened landing gear, an arrestor hook and canards. The single-seat cockpit with its roomy canopy is among the striking features of the model and determines how the model looks from close up once painted.
Wash the clear parts, degrease them and let them dry. Sort the masks into the inner and outer set in advance; with double-sided sets mixing them up is the commonest mistake. Paint the inner side with the interior shade, then carry on with the outside. Anyone painting the whole model in metallic shades should treat the frames last, because metallics are harder to spray over a mask.
The package holds the masks alone. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
