A precisely cut self-adhesive masking set in Japanese paper tape (kabuki) for a plastic model of the Soviet fighter-bomber Su-17/22 in the M3 or M4 version in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer New Ware. It is not a model and not a paint, but a set of masks that makes a clean coat on the glazing and other details easier. The BASIC level contains masks for the cockpit glazing from the outer side, for the wheels and for further clear parts such as the position lights and the covers.
The Su-17 and its export counterpart the Su-22 were among the widespread Soviet single-seat fighter-bombers. Characteristic is the wing with variable geometry of the outer sections, which improved the aircraft's behavior on takeoff and at low speeds. The late M3 and M4 versions received a more powerful engine and more modern equipment and served with a number of armed forces. In the NATO reporting system the type carried the name Fitter.
The masks are cut precisely from a tape that adapts well to curvature and leaves no sticky traces once lifted. Degrease and dry the surface before applying them, transfer the individual parts with tweezers and press them carefully against the edges of the frames. Cover the remaining area of the glazing with scraps of tape or with liquid mask. Apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats and peel the masks off before the coat is fully dry, so that the edges stay sharp.
This is a self-adhesive masking set, not a model and not paints. The model itself, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
