This add-on set for dioramas in 1:48 scale contains civilian luggage, that is, suitcases and a briefcase. It is not a model of a vehicle and not a kit, but a small scenic detail that can give a scene a story: a station platform, a column of refugees, a loaded automobile or the interior of a room.
Luggage is one of the most rewarding details in civilian and military scenes alike. A suitcase set down next to a figure immediately suggests that someone is traveling or fleeing, while a briefcase hints at a clerical or civilian role for the character. The set also works as cargo on a cargo bed, on the roof rack of an automobile or as filler in a luggage compartment.
Clean the parts up, wash them in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry. Leather suitcases look good in warm brown shades with a darker wash into the corners and gentle drybrushing of the edges. Pick out the fittings and the buckles with a fine brush in a metal shade, and labels and tags can be suggested with small decals or a piece of thin paper. A little dust along the lower edges settles a piece of luggage into a scene at once.
