A sheet of decals in 1:48 scale from the manufacturer Model Maker for a model of the Sukhoi Su-22M4 in the commemorative treatment that carries the name Stefan Stec. The set serves as an accessory for a model; on its own it is not a kit. The scope of the printing is not stated here.
The Su-22M4 is the export variant of a single-engined attack aircraft with a variable-geometry wing. The type was built for strikes against ground targets and for reconnaissance; its recognition features are a broad fuselage with a nose air intake and movable outer wing sections. Special commemorative finishes are among the most striking on this type, because the large area of the fuselage and wing gives room for a graphic treatment that differs a great deal from standard camouflage.
With more extensive motifs it pays to proceed patiently. The surface has to be glossy and perfectly cured, otherwise the decal will go white at the edges. Cut the motif out closely, soak it in warm water for a few seconds and let it rest on a paper towel. Once the film slides freely, transfer it onto the model and guide it into the right place with a brush. Large pieces of film are better seated in stages, pressing the surplus water out from the center toward the edges, so no bubbles form under the decal. A softener will help it flow around rivets and changes of shape; apply it in a thin layer and do not touch the film afterward. Once dry, wipe the adhesive residues off with a damp cloth and even the surface out with a matte or satin varnish.
The decals are an accessory for a kit. The kit, the paints, the varnishes and the softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
