A photo-etched set for a model of the Su-25 ground-attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. Fine metal elements add the detail that cannot be made in plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched part is thin metal sheet into which the shape is burned chemically. That gives elements a few tenths of a millimeter thick, which injection-molded plastic will never offer. On a model the difference shows above all where the material on the real subject should genuinely be thin. The set is made for a Su-25 model in 1:48 scale.
The Su-25 is a ground-attack aircraft built to support ground units from low altitude. A sturdy structure, an armored cockpit and a row of hardpoints under the wing match that. It is a machine on which a technically sober build and honest surface wear come into their own, and that is exactly what a photo-etched set suits.
Take the elements off with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with scissors, which bend the metal. Make the bends over a straight edge or in a bender, so that a clean fold line appears. It is bonded with cyanoacrylate or two-part glue; cement for polystyrene does not act on metal. Degrease the elements before painting and treat the surface with a primer, because on smooth metal the finish does not otherwise hold. Work with tweezers over a tray, as small parts like to spring away.
A photo-etched set is supplied. The model, glue, paints and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. Before buying, check which Su-25 kit in 1:48 scale the set is made for, as photo-etched sets are made for a particular model.
