Eduard 1:48 Supermarine Spitfire F Mk.XVIII — mask set brings templates cut to the shape of the glazing and the wheels. It is not a photo-etched set but masks for clean spraying.
Responsibility details are not available.
Self-adhesive masking templates for a model of the late version of the Supermarine Spitfire fighter in 1:48. The set deals with the cockpit glazing and the wheels: the templates are cut to shape, so you only lay them on and press them down. The manufacturer also makes photo-etched sets under the same name — a full photo-etched set and a smaller pre-painted variant. This item is the mask set and serves for painting, not for adding parts.
The Spitfire F Mk.XVIII belonged to the final development line of the type with the Griffon engine. Against the earlier versions it had a strengthened wing and landing gear structure and a revised fuel system for greater range. It was used above all in the postwar years outside Europe. For a modeler the type is marked out by the bubble canopy with its pronounced frame and by the five-blade propeller, which cannot be mistaken in this line.
Degrease the glazing and let it dry. Lift the mask off with tweezers, lay it on dry and press the edges down with a blunt tool so that they follow the frame exactly. Spray the paint in several thin coats; the first can be in the interior shade, so that the frame does not look unfinished from inside. With the sliding part of the canopy, decide in advance whether you will glue it open — it is masked differently then and the inside shows as well. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried. The circular wheel templates let you spray the hub without touching up the border.
This is an add-on to a model, not a kit in its own right. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
