An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I fighter in 1:48 scale. The model captures the early form of the Spitfire as it made its name in the Battle of Britain. Check the exact package contents, the accessories and the choice of decal options against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Spitfire Mk.I was the first production version of the legendary British fighter and was among the best known aircraft of the Royal Air Force in the Battle of Britain in 1940. It was powered by a liquid-cooled Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, and its unmistakable look came from the slender elliptical wings optimized for speed. The early machines were armed with eight wing machine guns and, together with the Hurricanes, formed the backbone of the British fighter defense.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic, fill the joints and sand them down. Paint the cockpit interior and pick the detail out before you close the fuselage up; the thin elliptical wing calls for careful sanding of the leading edges. Bring out the typical Battle of Britain schemes (brown and green upper camouflage with a light underside) after the gloss coat and the decals with a wash in the panel lines and gentle wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The glue, the paints and the accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
