Eduard 1:48 TBD-1 seatbelts STEEL are pre-painted photo-etched steel belts for the seats of a model of the torpedo bomber. A quick and telling change to the interior, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A stand-alone set of pre-painted photo-etched belts from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale for the seats of a model of the TBD-1 Devastator carrier torpedo bomber. The STEEL designation means that the fret is made of steel instead of the usual brass. Steel holds a bent shape considerably better, so the belts can be shaped to drape naturally over the seat and the edge of the cockpit and will not spring back flat. The parts are already printed, so they are not painted. A model of the aircraft is not part of the package.
The Douglas TBD-1 Devastator was an American carrier torpedo bomber introduced in the mid-1930s. This all-metal low-wing aircraft with retractable landing gear and folding wings carried a crew of three under long cockpit glazing. Seat belts are among the details clearly visible in an open cockpit, and their absence tends to show on a finished model at once.
Separate the belts with a scalpel on a hard surface and shape them carefully with tweezers or a wooden stick; steel takes shaping better than brass, but repeated bending in the same place tires it. They are glued with a minute amount of cyanoacrylate applied on a pin. Leave the buckles slightly turned, which reads more lively than perfect symmetry. Do not overspray the printed surfaces; suggest any fading or soiling with a fine wash or with pigment. Build everything in before the fuselage is closed up.
The package holds photo-etched belts only. The aircraft model, glue and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
