This set from the manufacturer Quinta Studio replaces flat decals and hand-painted instruments with three-dimensional, pre-colored elements on decal paper. The relief of the elements tells most on the Avenger, which has an extensive and clearly visible interior. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for the model you are building. The decals are shaped for the parts of the Academy kit.
The Grumman TBF Avenger was a carrier-based torpedo bomber with a crew of three. Besides the pilot's cockpit it had a gunner's station in the dorsal turret and a lower station for the radio operator and the bombardier, so the interior of a model is on view in several places. The TBF-1 version came from Grumman production; the later machines designated TBM were built under license by a different factory. The set is cut for one particular interior form, so with two differently designated versions choose according to the model you have.
The elements are cut out one at a time, left in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slid off the backing paper onto the plastic. Prepare the base smooth, degreased and sprayed with gloss varnish, because the element has no adhesive layer of its own and holds precisely on the sheen. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as their chemicals attack the printed resin and would ruin the element; pressing with a soft brush and a drop of super glue will help it bed down into the relief. The original molded detail is best sanded off first. On the Avenger it pays to work section by section and to seal the finished parts with matte varnish as you go, because the decals are applied in several separate compartments.
