This is a photo-etched accessory set, not a model of the aircraft. The set from the Czech maker Eduard extends the build of the Panavia Tornado F.3 ADV interceptor in 1:48 scale with metal details that injection-molded plastic cannot be made thin enough to match. The plastic kit is not included in the package.
The Tornado F.3 is the Air Defence Variant, a two-seat interceptor with a lengthened fuselage derived from the strike Tornado. It was created for long maritime patrols and escort work, its configuration carries air-to-air armament, and it differs from the strike versions in its nose, its radar and the arrangement of its pylons. The model therefore has a different forward geometry from the IDS version, which carries over into the accessory sets.
Separate the unpainted photo-etched parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and make the folds in a bender or between two blades. They are bonded with super glue, or with a thin epoxy that gives you time to seat the part. Degrease the metal before painting and give it a coat of primer, or the paint will not survive even ordinary masking. On parts that replace molded plastic relief, sand the original away smooth first and try the part dry - once photo-etched parts are in, there is noticeably less clearance in tight spots. Glue the small exterior details on last, so that they do not break off while you handle the model.
The set is an accessory for a kit that it does not contain. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
