An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern attack helicopter Bell AH-1Z Viper in 1:48 scale in the form used by the United States Marine Corps. The model faithfully captures the distinctive silhouette of the Viper with its twin-engine powerplant and its weapon stub wings. The kit is assembled and painted from the box.
The AH-1Z Viper is a twin-engine attack helicopter developed from the AH-1W SuperCobra under the H-1 upgrade program. Its hallmarks are the four-blade main rotor, new avionics and an integrated targeting system. With the United States Marine Corps (USMC) it has served since 2010 in close air support and anti-tank work; it can carry air-to-ground and air-to-air guided missiles and a trainable cannon in the nose turret.
Finish and paint the detailed cockpit and engine section before closing the fuselage. Mask the clear cockpit parts and fix them with canopy glue so that they do not fog. Use a primer and an airbrush; bring the typical gray USMC scheme to life with a subtle lightening of the panels, a dark wash into the recesses and restrained weathering around the exhausts and the weapons. Fit the fine antennas and the armament only after the base color has been sprayed.
