1:48 U.S. Weapon Loading Cart

US Weapon Loading Cart – weapons carts (1:48, Zimi Model)

An injection-molded plastic set of American airfield support equipment in 1:48 scale from Zimi Model. It is not an aircraft model but a collection of ground carts and handling gear with which weapons (bombs and rockets) are moved around an air base and loaded onto aircraft. The set covers several types of carts and lifting gear; it is a new mold with clear parts, photo-etched parts and decals. Note: the bombs and rockets themselves are not included in the package.

What the set is for

On a real air base weapons are not brought to the aircraft by hand – special low carts and lifting handlers do the job, running the bomb or the rocket under the pylon and raising it into the position for loading. This set renders that ground equipment and makes it possible to bring airfield dioramas and scenes of preparing an aircraft for a combat sortie to life. It goes with models of American aircraft in 1:48 scale.

Building and painting tips

Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with super glue. Apply a primer. Airfield handling equipment tends to be in bold working colors (yellow, green) or in a uniform military gray. Suggest working wear, oil drips, chipped paint and dust with washes and pigments – it is precisely the signs of use that make the carts convincing.

Who the set is for

• For builders of airfield dioramas in 1:48 scale.
• For modelers of American fighters who want a scene of preparation for a sortie.
• For anyone interested in airfield ground support equipment.
• It is not an aircraft model but an add-on set of ground equipment.

The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Bombs, rockets, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
