The 1:48 Vought F4U-2 Corsair TFace set of painting masks from the Czech maker Eduard deals with the cockpit glazing from the outside and the inside alike. An accessory for modelers who want crisp framing without the labor of cutting tape.
Responsibility details are not available.
These are painting masks from the Czech maker Eduard, that is, an aid to the build rather than the kit of the aircraft itself. The letters TFace in the designation mean that the set provides for masking from both sides of the canopy: outside and inside. The inner side of the framing therefore stays in the cockpit shade and the view through the canopy reads convincingly, which shows a great deal on a model with the canopy slid back.
The F4U-2 was the night fighter version of the carrier-based Corsair. It was created by converting production machines: a radar in a teardrop housing was added to the right wing, and the armament and the equipment of the cockpit were modified. It was one of the first American attempts to build a carrier fighter capable of working after dark, and given the technology of the time a surprisingly successful one.
The masks are placed on the framing and the paint is applied over them – first the interior shade, then the outer camouflage once that is dry. It is advisable to apply the paint in thin layers so that no ridge forms under the edge of the mask. Lift them off while the finish is still fresh, with pointed tweezers or a toothpick, so as not to scratch the clear part. Residues of paint on the edge can be leveled with a fine brush, or by gently polishing the edge of the frame.
The package contains neither paints nor plastic parts; obtain those separately to suit your own plan.
