A set of photo-etched steel belts, Eduard 1:48 Vought F4U-2 seatbelts STEEL, for the pilot's seat of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched set of seat belts for the pilot's seat, supplied in 1:48 scale by the Eduard brand. The STEEL epithet marks the steel version of the etch. Steel is stiffer than brass, holds the sag you shape into it, and the belts then look as if someone had just laid them over the edge of the seat. The printing carries the colors of the webbing and the hardware, so there is no need to repaint them.
The night Corsair flew with a single man on board, who had to handle the flying and the radar at the same time. Working in a dark cockpit over the Pacific placed exceptional demands on him, and the machines operated mainly at dusk and at night. On later Corsairs the cockpit was raised so that the pilot could see over the long nose, and that applied to the airframes used for the night conversion too.
Cut the webbing from the fret as close to the attachment as you can, so that no sharp stubs are left. Make the bends over a rounded tool rather than the edge of your tweezers, or you will get an unnaturally sharp crease. Fix them in spots with cyanoacrylate glue and keep watching whether a belt is covering a detail of the seat that is meant to stay visible.
The item serves to modify a model, which is obtained separately.
